My name is Marta Gèpe, and I’m the multi-passionate creative brain behind My Illustrated Thoughts: a holistic creative brand that specialises on building emotional connection through storytelling and illustration.

Born in a cold evening of January 2018, MITH started as a blog I would share my thoughts on the topics I loved: intercultural communication, travelling and lifestyle.

I still remember how much I was struggling with finding ‘my thing’: I was 27, still working at the same entry-level job I got at 23, recently graduated from a Master’s degree and I was really struggling to land a job interview. My self-confidence felt pretty smashed, and I had a hard time with feeling valuable. I loved doodling, and I would pour all my emotions in my drawings through Minième —a character I designed based on myself. But because I hadn’t studied it professionally, I wouldn’t take it seriously.

Minième

was mini-me, literally.

A little cartoon I would fit in a 1-inch square. I loved Minième from the start.

Back to that cold evening in January, I had just finished watching the movie ‘Julie & Julia’ and I could not help but deeply connecting with the story: Julie’s feelings of despair in her career resonated with mine, and her drive to post a daily recipe from Julia Child’s cookbook ignited her inner spark again.

And just as a fateful act of inspiration, the idea of a blog brought me back to life. I still remember the excitement of starting a personal project, the feeling of having a digital space where I was free to share my thoughts and feelings. That night, I felt empowered for the first time in a very long time. I couldn’t sleep, thinking of the potential names for my creative cocoon…until a powerful download hit me in the wee small hours of the morning…

‘My Illustrated Thoughts’ Oh… Spot. On.

I also needed to include my creative side, because I never felt complete without my beloved illustrations. So, I would include in every entry an illustration related to the topic I wrote.

That’s right, every entry became an ‘illustrated thought.’

My vision at the time was to create an online magazine, really. But it’s become much more than that. Over the years, My Illustrated Thoughts has been the safe haven that kept me alive during lockdown, the name that embodies my mission, and my creative brand.

Personally, after so, so many life changes, and certifications, and life rearrangements, that 27-year-old wouldn’t believe what and where the 32-year-old is right now: not only I am an illustrator (I finally took that talent seriously), but also a creative consultant and professional mentor with more than 9 years of experience in the teaching field, and an MA in Intercultural Communication for Business.

It is thanks to such a wide and diverse educational background, that my working framework combines mentoring & coaching, positive psychology, illustration and storytelling techniques.

It makes sense that in 2023, MITH is a holistic creative brand that specialises on emotional connection through storytelling and illustration.

After working with brands and getting some commissions for weds to be, I realised my favourite thing is to enhance the love by providing personalised wedding illustration services.

Regardless of who you are, either a loved one wanting to give a special present for a special day, a loving couple close to your anniversary, or a loving wed-to-be, the core element is always the same: to create a deep emotional bond through your loving story.
